We've been playing a game where we
try to get the most greetings out as possible to start a contact this week.
It's been fun to watch people get confused as we cut them off with another
greeting. haha (: It has been a good way to break the ice!
Also, to explain the subject of the
email, I have developed chronic heartburn. I am 20 years old with 50 year old
man problems.
WHAT A WEEK! The members told me
that there was going to be a fireside at the church and they had it all planned
out, all we needed to do was be there. So we went to the church and showed up
to all the lights off. I thought, "We must be early. Might as well set
up!" So I walked into the gym and the lights flipped on and people started
singing happy birthday to me! The ward planned a surprise party for me and
invited all of our investigators! It was such a happy birthday. I had
such a great day.
We have found a few new
investigators this week with a lot of promise. We have taught SO MUCH! It's
been so spiritually uplifting to see those around us start to have a light in
their eyes! What a beautiful work the mission is.
I have been pondering a passage of
scripture this week that I am convinced is one of the most poetic verses in all
the Bible. It's Romans 8:38-39.
38 For I am persuaded, that
neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things
present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to
separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
I thought about those moments in
which I haven't felt the love of God in my life. I was puzzled as to why I wasn't
feeling His love when it says that not even Death could separate me from his
love. I then realized that it was because I wasn't allowing myself to feel His
love. Whether it was due to sin, pride, or selfish thinking, I was denying
myself the sweet feeling of God's love. Never had He taken it away from me, but
I had made myself incapable of feeling it. God doesn't distance His love from
us, but we distance ourselves from His love. In EVERY moment we can feel it. We
just have to do what we need to do to feel it. Whether it be repentance,
cleaner thoughts, or even just to sit back and relax a little bit to clear our
minds. His love is ALWAYS there. I testify of that. It's just our job to keep
ourselves in a position where we can feel it.
I LOVE YOU ALL! There are going to
be pictures of the surprise party on my mission blog my Mom keeps up for
me!!
